Wedding Day Groomsmen Shaves at The Shaving Gallery. Get your Groomsmen a gift that they will never forget.

Post & Pre-Shave Burgers & Beers

While the women were tucked away at a nearby spa getting their nails painted and up dos pinned, the boys were lallygagging at the Shaving Gallery waiting for their turn in the shave chair. The Father of the Groom could not have put it better when he said “Beers, Burgers and a Shave, it doesn’t get any better than this. Son, if your marriage continues anything like the way it’s getting started, you’re a lucky man.”

This group of 10 groomsmen made up of fathers, brothers both biological and frat, were by far my favorite group to date. They couldn’t have been more easy going, appreciative and funny as hell. For a minute there I thought we were in a Seinfeld episode.

The Groom about to get his Smooth-on

I did however, have misgivings about this bunch when they first arrived as most of them thought it would be a really cool idea not to shave for a week. Because I only book a group of 10 in for 30 minute shaves, to say we were as busy as a one armed wallpaper hanger trying to shave these Grizzly Adam’s look-alikes in the short time we had them, would be an understatement. Luckily we have enough tricks down our aprons to counteract most challenges and managed to get even the burliest of the bunch spiffed up in no time.

If you have a family event coming up, why don’t you think about booking out the Shave Clinic before, after or in lieu of a round of golf. Call us direct at 770.975.9998 for more details.

Summary from an article published by The Alliance of Good Health...Here in the USA, mandatory vaccinations for babies and school children is a $10 billion a year industry.

Before going on a 4 month sabbatical to Africa, part of the visiting visa requirements for countries like Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Milawe, Mozambique, etc, was to have a myriad of vaccinations to protect me against Typhoid, Yellow Fever, Cholera, Malaria, etc.

Aside from the out of pocket expense, the side effects I would feel for about 2 years after made me question whether that kayak safari down the Zambezi, 8,000 ft parachute jump into Victoria Falls Wild Game Reserve, the wine and brandy tour through Cape Town or learning to play Polo on the back of a highly trained horse for $25 a day in Zimbabwe was all worth it. While I would still go back to Africa quicker than you could say “what a crock”, I would definitely rethink my strategy on getting around pharmaceutical vaccinations; relying on homeopathy, herbs, magnetic therapy, an electronic frequency generator and good old fashioned common sense and prevention instead. Any vaccination that is capable of causing night terrors, constant nausea, hair loss, miscarriage and overall lethargy needs to be feared as much as the diseases they are marketed to protect you from.

Here in the USA, mandatory vaccinations for babies and school children is a $10 billion a year industry. With that kind of dosh at stake, it’s no wonder parents are coerced into getting their babies innoculated a minimum of 9 times by school age. Aside from being told your child will end up dead without them, other bullying and intimidation tactics include exclusion from accredited school systems and even child custody battles with the State.

Here follows a summary from an article published by The Alliance of Good Health as well as a link to the complete article. Whether you agree with the overwhelming evidence linking Pharmaceutical vaccinations to developmental issues that result in symptoms like autism is only one part of the argument. The right to decide what does or doesn’t go into you or your family is the real issue. Dare to discuss it over a cup of tea or an adult beverage or two with some of your mates and let me know what you come up with.

ARTICLE SUMMARY

Genuine parental concerns about possible side effects and longer-term health risks of vaccinations are being patronizingly labeled as ‘irrational’ and ‘selfish’.

What are the dangers of multiple vaccines and what is the truth behind official denials of adverse effects?

Research funded by pro-vaccination government agencies and vaccine manufacturing company grants is likely to be biased.

Selling vaccinations nets the multinational, Big Pharma drug companies over $10 billion per annum – why would they want to stop doing it?

Here is my guide to helping you use wet shaving as a way to manage the undergrowth without compromising your health in the process.

Teenagers are doing it! Mums and Dads are doing it! Grandmas are even doing it! One of the fastest growing trends to impinge on both sexes since bell bottom jeans and the permanent wave has made its way out of the triple X scene into the underpants of the masses. These days’ women and men are doing away with some, most or all of their curly bits south of the bikini border. However, like all seemingly superfluous anatomical parts, pubic hair is more than a velvet curtain separating the audience from the main event. Rather than bore or excite you with too many gory details, here are two points to consider before you zap your short and curlies into extinction:

Pubic hair reduces friction while doing the old fandango

Pubic hair is a protective mechanism that grows on top of delicate lymph nodes residing throughout the groin and pubic region.

This being said, it doesn’t mean that the hairs on your dickey diver have to hang down to your knees. But, if you’re going to prune and maintain wild undergrowth, shaving is one of the easiest, least invasive ways to take care of it. While many a Suzie has been mutilated and traumatized by wet razor shaving, I assure you this has more to do with a bad razor technique and chemically inappropriate products than the method itself.

While waxing the bikini area can be satisfyingly clean and smooth once the swelling, redness and stinging sensation subsides, ripping the hair out from the root lowers the immunity of the pore and negatively impacts the lymph nodes. Also, the fact that you have to grow your guitar strings back in order to wax them off is whack!

Here is the Shave Doctor’s Guide to helping you use wet shaving as a way to manage your undergrowth without compromising your health in the process.

YOU WILL NEED:

An electric trimmer. Invest in a professional quality brand that is cordless with a rechargeable battery stand and comes with different size guards.

A Gillette Mach3 Razor (my top pick for a women’s razor)

Glycerin based Shave Lather

Aftershave Moisturizer

HOW TO GUIDE

Use Electric Trimmer with zero guard to cut in the lines or design being sure to use short strokes moving with the lie of the hair.

To evenly shorten the overall length of the hair you wish to keep, attach a guard (start with the largest guard if you’re unsure how close it will trim) to the trimmer and again follow the lie of the hair. NEVER turn your clippers against the hair.

Get in the shower or bath and bathe as usual. Shave toward the end of the shower to give the hair plenty of opportunity to soften up and become more pliable.

Take a small glob of lather and whisk briskly into the pubic hair and over groin area where you will be shaving.

Turn your knee outwards causing the thigh to straighten in order to create a smooth, flat surface.

Using short strokes (no more than 1 inch at a time) begin shaving from the outside of the groin toward the center of the pubic bone (check that this is with the lie of the hair).

NEVER, and when I say NEVER I mean NEVER, shave against the grain or lie of the hair. The pubic hair structure is like no other and will cause the pore to tear regardless of how careful you are. If you maintain the area throughout the year, you will find that it will shave closer each time and eventually become perfectly smooth.

When you get out of the shower, apply aftershave moisturizer over the area to balance the pH which will protect exposed skin from bacteria. This product should also be used on the remaining hair to help keep it soft and silky.

If you don’t have the patience to train the hair and wait for the skin to become smoother with each shave, let the image of an itchy crotch-scratching rash and sores that look like they need a high dose of penicillin be your reminder to resist over shaving the area. While shaving the muff down to the buff might be your cup of tea at this point in time, remember that Suzie functions best in fur and becomes easily irritated when forced to do hard labor in the raw.

Just like the eye brow shaving generation we pooh-poohed with the Brooke Shield caterpillars we strive for today, all fads eventually cycle out and back around. No doubt, future generations will enjoy going a- la-natural; choosing to wear their fluffy bits with unequivocal pride and distinction.

So the case of Daniel Hauser is a interesting one and brings to light many of the circumstances surrounding the treatment of cancer, the Medical Cancer Association at large and, most importantly, our constitutional rights when it comes self health and freedom of choice.

Colleen and Daniel Hauser. Health Freedon Fighters

In May 2009, the media brought to light a very interesting case about a mother Colleen Hauser who put her life and freedom on to the line to support her 13 year old son Daniel Hauser, and his decision to refuse further chemotherapy treatments prescribed by the hospital who had diagnosed him with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Although they tried playing the religious card, the intimidation and legal implications became so much for this Mother and Son duo, they were forced to go on the run to avoid the court ordered decision that deemed chemotherapy treatments were in Daniel’s best interest. Failure to comply cited Colleen Hauser to be an unfit Mother, making Daniel a ward of the State and landing him in custody of Child Protection Services.

Over the last 15 years, I have seen at least 6 of my shavers go through radical courses of chemotherapy and radiation treatments with no happy ending any where in sight.

In fact, the 6 shavers of which I refer stumbled into the diagnosis through happenstance. In other words, they just happened to have some random blood work, mammogram or check up that brought their attention to the fact that there were cancer cells present. Although they didn’t have any obvious signs of ill health or prior distress (that was until the “abnormalities” were discovered) the medical team immediately went into action and became their guardian as if by ”cancer default”. Intimidation and scare tactics were used to force them into making an on the spot decision as to when, not if, they would proceed with standard invasive proceedures that have become common place in the US. Of course the degree to which they are prepared to treat you largely depends on how much you or your insurance company is prepared to shell out for the experience.

While all 6 of these shavers managed to survive a few years of treatment, spending their last months shuffling from one medical appointment to another with little if any quality of life, all 6 eventually gave up their struggle and opted out of the program by way of wooden box.

The question I ask is this. Did they die from cancer or from the adverse effects of the treatment itself?

So the case of Daniel Hauser is a interesting one and brings to light many of the circumstances surrounding the treatment of cancer, the Medical Cancer Association at large and, most importantly, our constitutional rights when it comes self health and freedom of choice.

I would like to know what you think about the case of Daniel Hauser. For the full story including the court’s transcript and testomonies click here.

G’day Shavers

It’s that time of the year when more and more of my shavers end up on my shave chair hoping I can fix a peeled nose, blistered lips and dry patchy itchy skin from over exposure to the suns rays and many cool dips in the pool. While we’re quick to villainies the Sun for all of our skin defects, we need to keep a watchful eye out for pollution cloaked in many different forms. In this case, heavily chlorinated swimming pools.

Chlorinated swimming pools are not very skin or hair friendly. In fact, sun bathing with a chlorine film covering the skin can make the skin more susceptible to sun burn and hyperpigmentation.

While staying out of the pool is not an option from a quality of life standpoint, aside from investing in a saline pump, there is one relatively easy thing you can do to minimize the absorption of chlorine while swimming.

Shower before going into the pool and again when you get out.

Because skin and hair can only absorb x amount of water at a time, once it’s thoroughly saturated in fresh water (albeit still chlorinated but not as heavily) it can’t take on as much, if any, pool water.

Until next time, have fun in the sun this summer, play hard, get goofy and enjoy life.
